The Philippines has introduced significant changes to its visa policy for Indian citizens, offering two new visa-free entry options. These additions, confirmed by the Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi, aim to attract more Indian tourists to the archipelago’s renowned beaches and islands. While these new options provide greater flexibility, the existing e-visa system remains available for those who don’t meet the new criteria.

New Visa-Free Categories for Indians

As of May 2025, Indian passport holders can now enter the Philippines without a visa under specific conditions:

  • 14-Day Visa-Free Entry: This option allows Indian tourists to stay for up to 14 days without needing a visa. It’s crucial to note that this stay cannot be extended or converted into another visa type. Entry is permitted via all major ports of entry, including airports, seaports, and cruise terminals. To be eligible, travelers must:
    • Be visiting for tourism only.
    • Hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay.
    • Provide proof of accommodation and a confirmed return or onward ticket.
    • Show evidence of sufficient funds (e.g., bank statements, employment verification).
    • Have no prior negative immigration history in the Philippines.
  • 30-Day Visa-Free Entry for AJACSSUK Visa/Residency Holders: Indian citizens possessing a valid visa or permanent residency from Australia, Japan, America (USA), Canada, Schengen states, Singapore, or the United Kingdom (collectively referred to as AJACSSUK countries) can now enjoy a 30-day visa-free stay. The conditions for this category include:
    • A valid visa or permanent residency from any of the AJACSSUK countries.
    • A passport with at least six months of validity.
    • A confirmed return or onward travel ticket.
    • A clean immigration record in the Philippines.
Similar to the 14-day option, this 30-day provision is non-extendable and strictly for tourism purposes.

E-Visa Option Still Available

For Indian travelers who do not qualify for the new visa-free categories, the e-visa route remains a viable option. The 9(a) Temporary Visitor Visa, accessible through the official e-visa portal, permits a 30-day single-entry stay.

Documents typically required for the e-visa include:

  • A valid passport.
  • Government-issued ID and passport-sized photographs.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Return or onward ticket.
  • Financial documents demonstrating the ability to cover travel expenses.

These new visa-free initiatives are set to significantly simplify travel for many Indian tourists, making the Philippines an even more accessible destination. Which of these new options might be most beneficial for your travel plans?
